Kazakhstan Medical University “KSPH” hosted a scientific and educational lecture by Robb Butler, former Director of the Division of Communicable Diseases and Climate Change at the WHO Regional Office for Europe, entitled “Global and Regional Health Challenges with Introduction to Behavioral Science.”
The welcoming remarks provided a brief overview of the history and key areas of activity of Kazakhstan Medical University “KSPH”, its collaboration with the World Health Organization, and its participation in international initiatives, including the Healthy Cities project. It was also noted that the University will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2027, with a number of major events planned as part of the anniversary programme, including events involving WHO representatives.
During the lecture, Robb Butler shared his perspective on current global and regional health challenges and introduced participants to the key priorities of the WHO European Programme of Work 2025-2030. Particular attention was given to behavioral science and the role of behavioral factors in public health.
The practical part of the session included an interactive discussion with students focusing on behavioral factors influencing their level of activity. Participants responded to the speaker’s questions and had the opportunity to ask their own, creating an engaging dialogue and making the session both interactive and informative.
