In the Zhambyl Region, one of the most vital diagnostic methods for cancer—rapid histology—has been introduced at the Regional Multidisciplinary Oncology and Surgery Center.

“Each year, the center performs more than 800 surgical operations. Previously, tissue samples had to be sent to Almaty or Astana for histological examination, and patients would wait 2 to 3 weeks for results. Until those results were available, treatment could not begin. Now, our patients have access to histology results in a much shorter time frame. Our specialists have undergone relevant training and shared experiences with their colleagues,” said clinic director Zhandos Seidakhmetov.

Rapid histology is a modern method where a tissue sample taken during surgery is quickly frozen and examined under a microscope. Within just 15–20 minutes, results are available, allowing the surgical team to adjust the course of the operation immediately if necessary. This technology not only improves surgical accuracy but also enables the selection of the most effective treatment strategy.

The introduction of this method is expected to significantly enhance the effectiveness of cancer treatment by enabling prompt diagnosis. Stay up to date with our news at https://ksph.edu.kz/ and on our Telegram channel Mediclub.
