The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan has successfully held negotiations with representatives of Apple, resulting in the availability of important digital health services in Kazakhstan.
Previously unavailable in Kazakhstan, these services have been effectively used in countries like the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Now, Kazakhstani users can take advantage of these advanced technologies to monitor their health.
ECG Recording on Apple Watch
Owners of Apple Watch Series 6 and newer can now use the electrocardiogram (ECG) recording feature. The ECG takes just 30 seconds and helps detect signs of atrial fibrillation — a heart rhythm disorder that may lead to serious complications. The data is stored in the Health app and can be shared with a physician for further analysis.
Sleep Apnea Notifications
With the update for Apple Watch Series 9 and later, a new feature has been added that detects episodes of sleep apnea — a condition involving temporary breathing pauses during sleep, which may cause chronic fatigue and other health issues. Users will now receive notifications if potential breathing disruptions are detected at night.
New Features in AirPods Pro
Users of AirPods Pro 2 and newer models now have access to a “Hearing Check” feature. This allows individuals to assess their ability to hear sounds at different frequencies and volumes, helping detect early signs of hearing loss. The test takes about five minutes and is conducted in a quiet setting. Results are saved in the Health app on your iPhone or iPad and can be monitored over time or shared with a specialist.
Additionally, the “Hearing Aid” feature is now available for users with mild to moderate hearing loss. It adjusts audio playback through AirPods to suit the user’s individual hearing needs, improving the perception of speech and ambient sounds. The feature is configured based on the hearing test results or an audiogram uploaded by a professional.
It is important to note that these device features are not intended for diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of any diseases. They serve as auxiliary tools for health monitoring and do not replace consultations with qualified medical professionals.
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan continues its efforts to expand access to modern technologies aimed at improving the health and well-being of its citizens. Stay updated through our website: https://ksph.edu.kz/ and our Telegram channel: Mediclub
