Department of “Surgical diseases”

The Department of Surgical Diseases was established in February 2020 (Order No. 317/1-n dated 26 December 2019) as a result of the restructuring of the structural divisions of the KMU «KSPH». The head of the department was Professor, MD Toleutayuly Karibay.
In September 2021, the Department of Surgical Diseases was reorganised. The head of the department became Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor S.M. Zharmenov.
In September 2024, it was renamed the Department of Surgery with courses in neurosurgery, urology and cardiovascular surgery.
In September 2025, it was renamed the Department of Surgery with courses in cardiovascular surgery, oncology and traumatology.
The Department of Surgery with courses in cardiovascular surgery, oncology and traumatology at the KMU «KSPH» provides the following types of postgraduate and additional professional education:
— Advanced training aimed at maintaining, deepening and improving professional competencies in accordance with the qualification requirements of the industry qualification framework and professional standards in the field of healthcare
— A certification course aimed at expanding and/or mastering new professional competencies in the main speciality
— Training of master’s and doctoral students in the field of medicine
— Training of surgical residents
— Master classes, seminars, conferences, etc.
The teaching staff of the department includes: 1 head of department, 6 professors, 3 associate professors, 4 lecturers. In addition to the main members of the department, a number of other highly qualified teachers and medical specialists with extensive work experience and scientific achievements are also involved in the educational process.
