

Seminar on Corporate Governance and Financial Sustainability of Healthcare Organizations Held in Turkestan

From October 7 to 9, 2026, a three-day seminar entitled “Corporate Governance and Financial Sustainability of Healthcare Organizations in the Republic of Kazakhstan: The Role of the Supervisory Board” was held in Turkestan.
The event was jointly organized by the Kazakhstan School of Public Health (KSPH) and the Health Department of the Turkestan Region.
The educational program comprised a total of 24 academic hours.
The seminar brought together managers and representatives of regional, city, and district hospitals, outpatient clinics, specialized medical centers, and medical colleges from across the Turkestan Region.
The main objective of the seminar was to strengthen corporate governance in healthcare institutions, enhance financial sustainability, improve strategic planning and management decision-making, and promote the effective functioning of Supervisory Boards.
The seminar was delivered by distinguished healthcare experts and professors:
- Kuralbay Kurakbayev – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Course in Health Economics and Insurance Medicine.
- Valikhan Akhmetov – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor at the Department of Healthcare Management, and Expert of the World Health Organization (WHO).
- Tleukhan Abildayev – Healthcare Management Specialist, Candidate and Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Almaty Branch of the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
The educational program covered the following key areas:
- Fundamentals and modern approaches to corporate governance in healthcare;
- Development and implementation of strategic plans for healthcare organizations;
- Organization and responsibilities of Supervisory Boards and the role of corporate secretaries;
- Corporate risk analysis and interaction with healthcare management;
- Organization of compliance functions and internal audit services;
- Effective management of financial resources in healthcare institutions;
- Financial planning, budgeting, and analysis of financial performance;
- Assessment and evaluation of Supervisory Board effectiveness.
During the seminar, participants gained knowledge and practical tools aimed at improving healthcare management systems, strengthening financial planning, and applying modern corporate governance mechanisms in medical institutions.
The seminar was designed to contribute to improved management practices, greater financial sustainability, and the institutional development of the healthcare system in Kazakhstan.
The Kazakhstan School of Public Health (KSPH) continues to implement educational initiatives aimed at enhancing the professional competencies of healthcare leaders and specialists, advancing healthcare management, and promoting modern governance practices throughout the healthcare sector.
