The history of the formation and development of the Kazakhstan Medical University “KSPH” is closely connected with the development of independent Kazakhstan.
Historically, the establishment of the university took place in 1997 in Almaty in accordance with the Agreement between the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Government Resolution No. 1142 of 21.07.1997). Initially, the tasks of the new organization were the training and retraining of public health specialists and advanced training of heads of relevant bodies and institutions on topical issues of public health, policy and management in modern conditions.
Since its foundation, KMU “KSPH” has firmly held its flagship position in the field of public health education and health management, as well as in conducting scientific research. It is a truly advanced training and research center, one of the most important drivers of the industry’s development. It is a member of the Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH), the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER), the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE), the European Organization for Doctoral Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences (ORPHEUS), which allows organizing processes based on international best practices. To implement the best technologies of the international schools of public health, KMU “KSPH” is constantly developing international relations, in particular, with the WHO Regional Office for Europe.
Currently, the training of personnel at the KMU “KSPH” is conducted in the state, Russian and English languages under the programs of scientific and pedagogical and specialized master’s programs in the following specialties:” Public Health (hereinafter – OZ)”,” Health Management “(hereinafter – MOH),” Medicine”, as well as doctoral studies (scientific and pedagogical and specialized) in the specialty”Public Health”.
Also, the training of specialists in practical health care, pharmacy and scientific personnel is successfully conducted under the programs of advanced training and retraining.
As part of the academic mobility, undergraduates and doctoral students were trained at universities and university clinics in such countries as: Turkey (Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital, “Sema” Fatih University), Spain (Graduate School of Management), South Korea (Gang Neung Asan Hospital), the United States (US Institute of Health), China (Shenzhen City University) and others.
The activities of KMU “KSPH” are expanding in the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan: branches are organized and operate in the cities of Nur-Sultan and Aktau.
